Happy Christmas everyone!

Just a couple of days early, but if I don't say it now it will get lost in the turmoil and hubbub of the last-minute rush and panic.

A selection of Santas

I'm hoping to get the December newsletter out before Christmas Day, but if not a day or so after. There will be an interesting piece from Chrissie Oldfield about what she's seen on her travels, and a bit of news about developments for BADFA, too. It's all looking good for the new year.

So, make sure you have a good break over Christmas, indulge and imbibe, and remember to spread good will everywhere you go - and hopefully you'll get time to do some painting.

Committee

The committee will be meeting soon. We will be discussing everything BADFA - especially the 2016 convention.

It's going to be a long day, but it will be worth it. Hopefully, by the time I get the December newsletter published, we'll have details of Karen Hubbard's classes - and the other exciting things that will be on offer.

The convention will also be AGM time. This is when you, our members, get the chance to have your say. It's an important time for any organisation, and we'd like to see as many members as possible there, so make sure the date is circled on your calendar. (13, 14, 15 May 2016)

Hi
Just a quick blog to let you know that the newsletter has been sent to the email subscribers this morning. There's a booking form included.

If yours hasn't arrived check your spam or trash inbox. If you still can't find it let me know and I'll get another one on the way.

Enjoy!

A month to go!

I hope you all got your booking forms, even better, that you have them in the post heading our way!
The next newsletter is in for proof reading and will be on its way to you as soon as I can get it out there. Just in case, there will be another booking form in the file. So there will be no excuse!

We (the committee) are getting really excited now, 'cos it's gonna be a great do!

See you there!

Convention is GO!

The booking form for the 2015 convention has been sent to all members by email. If you can't find yours in your inbox, make sure you check your spam folder - it will be there somewhere.

We think this is our best convention yet. The special prices are all-inclusive; you won't need your purse - unless you want to buy supplies from the traders, or drinks at the bar!

If you have any questions email us, or contact our chief organiser, Sandra, by phone.

Places are issued on a first come, first served basis, so don't dilly-dally, get your cheque in the post quickly!

Just look at the surroundings! Stunning scenery to inspire your arty-ness, good food and accommodation to relax you, so you can enjoy a great weekend.

Remember, Saturday night is not only AGM night, but Paint-til-Late night, when we all try to retain our decorum and artistic skills after a visit to the bar.

We look forward to renewing old friendships, and starting new ones. See you there!

Update

Votes are in on the artists for our convention, and the arrangements for the venue are well underway.

We (the committee) will be meeting soon to finalise our arrangements, and make sure we have everything just so. Then all you members will be getting an email with a booking form.

We are sure that this year you will have the best value event going. The benefits of BADFA membership will become apparent, and you will have more fun than your mother thought was decent.  So hang on, not long and all will be revealed.

Watch out for that email ...

Voting is closed

Voting for the classes for this year's convention is closed. We've had a great response and now we have to analyse the results.

As soon as we have worked it all out we'll send an email to the members with full details.

Thank you to all those who took the time to vote, and to all the artists who submitted classes. This convention is looking be the best yet!

Stay tuned for more breaking news ...

Tuesday 10 February 2015

Time's up, members!

Submissions have closed for projects for the convention. Now we have to organise them and get them out to all you members to choose which ones you like most.

When we send them out, you will get a nomination form for the upcoming committee vacancies.

Our committee posts are not for life. The term of office is usually three years, but of course everything is negotiable.

Sharon has been chairman for four years, she now is looking to spend more time teaching and designing.

Diane needs time for work and family, so will be handing over the treasurer's post.

Kim has been newsletter editor for five years, having been persuaded to stay on by Sharon, when she took over the chair.

All of these posts become vacant at the AGM. We need you to stand up and be counted. BADFA has to have a strong committee, as it has since Sharon took over. But we need new ideas and fresh visions for the future. And only you can do it.

Newly elected post holders will not be left in the lurch, we have agreed to support the new committee until it is confident to run on its own, so no need to be scared.

When the form arrives please nominate yourself, or (with their agreement) a friend for a position on the committee. If you have any questions, just ask. Contact details are here

Sunday 1 February 2015

Submissions for convention 2015

Entries have closed for submissions to the 2015 Convention, and now we will be getting members to vote to tell us which classes they want to see.

There is still time to squeeze in if you hurry, and can get your suggestion in before we circulate the contenders.

Members, you will soon have the power to choose!

OK! It's taken a while ...

... but things being what they are ...

Anyway, the CDs went in the post today. They were posted first class, so they should be with you - that is the CD subscribers - tomorrow, or latest, Monday.

A timely reminder to you lot, if you change to the email version you will get your copy a lot earlier AND qualify for a discount on your membership. In these tough economical times, every little counts.

And while I have your attention, the convention cometh. That means we want some projects to teach, we want people to teach the projects, and we want them soon. You don't have to be a teacher, just submit.

As usual, any questions,  or articles for the newsletter sent them to me, the editor. Details on the contact page. I'm waiting ...
